A delegation of young Colombian ping-pong players will travel to China soon to receive special training in the sport at the Shichahai Sport Facility, Beijing, known worldwide as the best in the discipline. The program envisages friendly matches and meets with young ping-pong players from that Asian country and is in keeping with the Children and Teenagers with Opportunities project sponsored by the Colombian Foreign Ministry in alliance with the National Federation of Table Tennis and the collaboration of embassies from both countries.
Comprised of teenagers from the departments of Tolima, Boyaca and Meta, the group has been engaged in intensive practice under the leadership of coach Diego Colmanares, to be in no way different from that of their colleagues.
For these young players, the journey has the extra stimulus of being able to personally meet the players from the Chinese table tennis team, one of the best of the world, they stated.
According to Dairo Obando, the Beijing visit will also allow the players to share and learn about Chinese culture, try new experiences and realize that important goals can be achieved thanks to sports and the supportive experiences found along the way.
