Digital money transfer provider Xoom Corporation has announced a partnership with South America’s largest retail company, Colombia’s Grupo Éxito, offering Xoom’s international money transfer services at more than 210 locations throughout the country.

The partnership expands Xoom’s payout network to more than 1,000 cash payout locations in Colombia.

“Xoom customers can send up to US$1,000 for cash pickup at Éxito, Carulla and Surtimax supermarkets. Customers do not need to purchase at Éxito or Carulla to receive their cash; just go to the customer service desk, present their government ID and an Éxito staff member will assist them,” said Xoom’s senior VP, marketing and corporate development Julian King.

To send money to Colombia, customers can log on, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, from any internet connected device.

Earlier this year, Xoom announced that it is the first pure-play remittance provider to offer a Spanish-language app for Android and iOS phones.

During the 12 month period ended September 30, Xoom’s more than 997,000 active customers sent more than US$5.1bn to 30 countries.

Grupo Éxito operates 479 stores directly and indirectly through stakes in other companies in Colombia and Uruguay. The Éxito, Surtimax and Carulla supermarkets make up about 70-75% of revenue.
