The coach of Colombia’s national soccer team said his squad might be a ‘candidate’ to win the World Cup in Brazil next year.
Argentine Jose Pekerman made his comments at a press conference on the eve of the friendly match between Colombia and Belgium in the Belgian capital of Brussels.
“We know we can do a good World Cup, we have great confidence but also a lot of respect for the other teams that are below in the FIFA rankings,” said Pekerman when asked about Colombia’s current fourth place in the FIFA rankings.
“We need to play with two strong rivals are not common in South America,” Pekerman said, referring to the upcoming friendlies against Belgium and Holland.
