TODAY COLOMBIA TRAVEL – More options for flying to Colombia are on tap. Low-cost carrier Viva Colombia plans to begin nonstop service between Miami and Medellin starting December 2, followed by service to Bogota on Dececembr 16.

The new flights between Miami International Airport (MIA) and Medellin’s Jose Maria Cordova International Airport (MDE) and Bogota’s El Dorado International Airport (BOG) will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, Viva Colombia said.

The Colombia budget carrier said it expects to carry 175,000 passengers between Miami and Colombia in 2016 — 90,000 to and from Medellin and 84,000 to and from Bogota.

Viva Colombia’s flights from Miami to Medellin will depart at 8:35 p.m. and to Bogota at 11:25 a.m.

Roundtrip fares to Colombia start at US$171 per person return, including government taxes and fees for purchase by November 18 and November 22, according to Viva Colombia’s website.

Airfares include a free small personal item but extra charges apply for checked luggage, priority boarding and inflight snacks and beverages.

Viva Colombia is also offering flights to Medellin and Bogota from Panama City, Panama for US$133 return.
