Colombia’s beloved pop star Shakira will perform at the closing ceremonies of the FIFA World Cup.
The Barranquilla-born beauty will perform her new single “La La La (Brazil 2014)” in the Maracana stadium in Rio de Janeiro during the closing ceremonies of the World Cup competition, Colombia’s El Espectador reported.
While the singer has not yet confirmed the news, she did recently publish a new promotional twitter campaign for “La La La,” according to El Espectador. The campaign asks her 25 million followers to submit proposals for a special design of the single cover that will celebrate the final stretch of the competition.
Shakira previously performed in both the 2006 and 2010 World Cup closing ceremonies.
Shakira’s new single has surpassed the popularity of the official FIFA World Cup anthem, “We Are One (Ole Ola),” performed by Pitbull, Jennifer Lopez, and Claudia Leitte, according to the Billboard official website.
“La La La” is currently at No. 53 on the Billboard Hot 100 while “We Are One” only spent three weeks on the same list before dropping in the ratings.
