Colombian Paramilitaries Traded Cocaine for Weapons in the U.S

Bogota –  The United Self-Defense Forces of Colombia (AUC) took out of U.S. territory from 2004 to 2005, a batch that included 200 assault rifles M-16, 100 hand grenades and other 150 rocket-propelled, according a document which was seen by Caracol Radio.

The text, written by agents of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), states that were also part of lot 100 mortar rounds of 60 mm, 50,000 rounds of 5.56 mm ammunition and other small arms ammunition.

A special agent of the DEA, whose identity retained the radio, revealed that a man identified by the alias “Nacho”, active member of the AUC controlled the black market of weapons and cocaine distribution routes in various sectors of Miami.

According to his testimony, between 2004 and 2005 in Miami-Dade County, Southern District of Florida, and elsewhere, Nacho made exchange transactions of cocaine for shipments of weapons, which were then shipped to Colombia.

The investigation also revealed that when the organization did not have cocaine for transactions, they bought them with millions of dollars.

The report notes that the evidence in this case indicates that from April 2004 through June 29, 2005, was arranged with others to exchange large quantities of cocaine and dollars for weapons.
