975_227Clara Eugenia López Obregón, presidential candidate for Colombian Polo Democratico Alternativo Party, denounced the lack of warranties for the March and May elections in this South American country and the threats to members of the candidatures of the opposition.

In a meeting with representatives of the United Nations in Bogota, Lopez highlighted the absence of a system of electronic vote for the elections and the lack of information balance in the peace process between the Colombian government and the rebel group FARC-EP.

Lopez also talked about the concern on the possible spionage by members of the military intelligence to the Colombian governmental team in the dialogue table in Havana, Cuba, which was revealed by magazine Semana.

“If measures are not adopted, the upcoming elections will be based on illegality, just as the electronic illegal interceptions are showing,” Lopez assured.

The UN delegates, for their part, said they are studying the denouncing and that they will make the corresponding recommendations to Colombian Interior Minister Aurelio Iragorri, said the communique.
