Colombia to implement new tax reform: IDB

President of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) Luis Alberto Moreno said Wednesday that Colombia should implement a new tax reform after the 2014 elections, Caracol Radio reported.

The IDB official told the Colombian radio, that implementing a new tax reform is necessary to ensure that Colombia is functioning optimally.

Moreno added that Colombia has made important progress in terms of growth and within the employment sector.

“When you observed the different Latin American economies from a distance, Colombia is one of the fastest growing,” he said.

According to Moreno, one of the main priorities should be to strengthen investment in infrastructure, where serious problems have been affecting productivity. But explained that the infrastructure deficit in Colombia will require an investment period of 20 years.
