Colombian ex paramilitary member Sigfredo Torres, one of the most renowned criminals in the country, was arrested in an operation carried out by the Colombian police and the Attorney General”s Office Unit against Criminal Gangs on Saturday, after six months in pursuit.
Torres was arrested in the municipality of San Martin, in the central department of Meta.
A former member of the paramilitary group Centauros, Torres was known as Houdini, after the famous Hungarian escapist and illusionist.
After the dissolution of the paramilitaty group, he joined other gangs.
His crimes include attempted homicides, extorsion and arms traffic.
Two weeks ago, Torres escaped from an operation and the police only found a rifle and a motorcycle that he had left behind.
