The president of the Colombian Soccer Federation, Luis Bedoya, and Coldeportes director, Andres Botero, have submitted a proposal in Switzerland for the country to host the Soccer World Cup (Futsal) in 2016.
A note posted on the website of the Colombian Olympic Committee stresses that the official documents were delivered to the President of the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), Joseph Blatter and secretary general Jérome Valcke.
Colombia suggested as possible venues the cities of Bogota, Villavicencio, Neiva, Ibague, Bucaramanga and Cucuta.
Other countries also aspiring to host the World Cup are the Czech Republic, France, Iran, Puerto Rico and Spain.
The final decision will be announced in the last week of May, during the FIFA congress in Mauritius.
