Colombia Paralimitaries Behind Bogota Blast

Colombian authorities suspect that paramilitaries are involved in the explosion in Bogota that killed five and left 30 wounded.

The source that requested not be exposed, told Prensa Latina the attack is rather retaliatory to the “reach of controversial Justice and Peace agreement of 2005 with ex President Alvaro Uribe” that helped demobilize groups like Autodefensas Unidas de Colombia (AUC) and Extradite to the USA some 14 paramilitary leaders.

The AUC claims it never yield the promised benefits and charges Uribe´s government of treason.

President Juan Manuel Santos, sustained for his part, that State Minister Fernando Londono was the target of this attack; the ex member of Uribe´s former cabinet was wounded in the blast seemingly set off on a bus, others say it was flung from a motorbike, killing the driver and his bodyguard.

Londoño, according to the news, was travelling near Bogota´s financial center.

Military sources claim the probe indicate the ex minister´ route were being monitored for months and that the date of the attack was aimed at linking the explosion to protests against the enforcement of a free trade agreement with the US.

Another car bomb was defused this morning near a Police station in Eduardo Santos neighborhood, said Metro Police Gen. Luis Eduardo Martinez.
