Colombia is ranked first in terms of issuing the alerts that help to track down terrorists and criminals across the globe, according to the national police.

Colombia has been showing off its international crime fighting credentials in the northern Colombian city of Cartagena this week, hosting the General Assembly of INTERPOL – the international organization that co-ordinates tracking down criminals across 190 member countries.

According to police, Colombia is the number one nation out 190 countries for INTERPOL notifications, the network of alerts that include those about wanted persons (Red Notice) or those about escaped prisoners (Orange notice).

This week the assembly has highlighted many Colombian law enforcement achievements, including the capture of a gang trafficking young women in the southwestern Colombian state of Valle de Cauca.
