Colombia’s Agencia Nacional de Infraestructura (ANI) – National Infrastructure Agency – says 21 companies, national and foreign, have expressed interest in the administration, modernization, operation and maintenance of four airports in the country.
The airports that will be operated under concession are the Ernesto Cortissoz in Barranquilla, the Benito Salas in Neiva, the Guillermo León Valencia in Popayán and the Edén in Armenia.
Luis Fernando Andrade, president of the ANI said “this process marks the way we are going to concession the airports from now on. They (concessions) ensure the right incentives that will lead to regional development and advances in infrastructure to respond to market demands”.
Ten companies will be chosen by lottery that will be able to submit their proposals.
Among the Colombian companies participating in the pre-qualification process are Conconcreto, Grupo Odinsa, CSS Constructora (Solarte), Mario Huertas, El Cóndor, Colpatria and Episol.
Among the international companies listed by ANI are: from France, Vinci; from Mexico, Tradeco; from Spain, Sacyr, Ferrocial and Cintra; and fro China, Harbur.
