COLOMBIA NEWS – The Mexican Foreign Affairs Ministry notified the Congress Permanent Advisory Committee that President Enrique Peña Nieto traveled today to Colombia to participate in the inauguaration of Juan Manuel Santos as President of Colombia. According to the text sent to the Legislative, the attendance of the head of the Mexican Executive to the ceremony that starts Santos’ second presidential term reiterates the importance of Colombia in Mexican relations with Latin America and the Caribbean.
The inaUguration ceremony of Santos will take place today (Thursday) and Peña Nieto will depart that same day. The official note confirmed the Mexican interest in Colombia, third largest destination of Mexican investment abroad, adds the document.
According to the note in recent years both nations have had a sustained dialogue at the highest level that has allowed them to strengthen their links, not only in the scope of security, but also in economy and integration.
Both dignitaries have gathered each other in more than 10 occasions, for various reasons, such as the investiture of Peña Nieto or multilateral spaces in which their respective countries actively participate actively.
