Troops from Colombia’s Joint Task Force Omega have neutralized 72 terrorist actions against the civil population, infrastructure and law enforcement in different operations over the last week, the Colombian Army said late on July 6.
In La Esperanza village, Puerto Rico municipality, Meta department, soldiers fought against members of the Eastern Bloc of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) who were holding a meeting to plan terrorist attempts.
Alias “Reinel,” who had been part of the guerrilla group for 12 years, was killed in combat.
His criminal activities included burning public transportation vehicles in Meta and Guaviare in 2013 and 2014, the Army said.
During the military action, troops confiscated one 40mm grenade launcher, five rifles, 20 rifle magazines, 24 grenades and 1,499 gun cartridges.
In another operation, the Rapid Deployment Force dismantled a camp property of the FARC’s 31st Front and confiscated one and a half ton of groceries and military supplies.
