15 missing people discovered, 20 fugitives found on Colombia election day

Fifteen people previously reported missing were found when they showed up to vote in Colombia’s second round presidential election, Colombia’s Prosecutor General’s office announced on Sunday afternoon.

The missing persons from different regions were handed over to the authorities in order to make contact with the people responsible for reporting them as missing, the office reported. In first round of the elections 18 people that were reported missing were discovered when they showed up to vote.

The Prosecutor General’s Office reported a relatively normal election day except for five cities in the western state of Choco where the guerrilla group ELN allegedly threatened Colombian voters to prevent them to vote.

The state prosecution office also announced that officials captured 20 people with outstanding arrest warrants. The 20 were among other things arrested for theft, homicide, and sexual offenses.
