According to a police statement Tuesday, an Indonesian man, a Dutch man, a Mexican woman, a Dominican woman and a Venezuelan man were among those arrested.
The statement says the suspects were arrested between April 14 and 20, a period of increased travel. They were carrying a total of 114 kilograms (251 pounds) of cocaine. Some hid the drugs in suitcases with false bottoms, while others had ingested capsules.
All were headed to the U.S. or Europe.
At least 96 people have been caught smuggling drugs at Colombia’s airports so far this year, including 16 foreigners. Last year, 230 people were arrested, 90 of them foreigners.
