Centrist Green Alliance presidential candidate Enrique Peñalosa announced on Monday that he will be running with Isabel Segovia, Latin American historian and former vice education minister during administration for former President Alvaro Uribe.

Segovia previously acted as consultant for the World Bank’s social sector in Lima, Peru, and was officer of the America’s Program at the Center for Democracy in Washington, D.C. While in the Ministry, Segovia was director of Populations and Intersectoral Projects, and coordinator of the Rural Education Project.

Other former positions include co-founding and directing the Corporation for Development and Social Management, supervising of the Share Foundation’s Department of Education, and a professorship at the Universidad Externado de Colombia.

According to election polls, Peñalosa and Segovia are strong candidates to take up President Juan Manuel Santos in the first round of the May 25 election.
